I was just goofing off here with a hat I found during one of my shopping adventures. This style looks great with a shawl neck sweater. Speaking of shawl necks,  I also have a love affair with toggle buttons on sweaters.

I knew it was a good idea to hold off buying the iPhone 4s. The iPhone 5 is rumored to be coming this summer.

I was scrolling the web, as I often do, looking for news, and came across this. It makes a lot of sense.

Facebook is already in the news business, by default, because of the information that people post to their pages and the links. I’m wondering, though, if it might develop more of a content template for small, independent publishers to distribute their information. Google is already doing this with Google Currents, a digital magazine service, which I have experimented with, and like a lot.

Let’s see what happens.

Carolyn Walker (From The Virginian-Pilot)

Carolyn Walker left her home yesterday in Chesapeake. Maybe she said goodbye to her family. Perhaps not. When you are 12, you don’t think about leaving home and not returning.

But a gun in the wrong hands makes death possible for us all.

And so it was for Carolyn.

She was shot and killed by a classmate as they were playing in a group, according to a report in The Virginian-Pilot:

When you are 13, like the young man alleged to have pulled the trigger, you probably don’t grasp the finality of death; the burden of having taken someone’s life; the seriousness of being charged with manslaughter.

Two lives were ruined on Tuesday: Carolyn’s whose was taken away so unexpectedly, dreams unfulfilled, her promise never to be reached; and the young man’s whose will forever be marked by having brought death to someone. I didn’t want to use the word “killed” in this case because it seems so harsh for someone so young.

Compassion should be felt for everyone involved. The families. The children who were playing and witnessed the shooting. For them all, Tuesday will never be forgotten.

This is a boundless tragedy whose impact cannot be measured. And no one saw it coming.

So, I’m flying back from Arizona and paid money to keep up with the Steelers/Broncos game from the Internet. Everyone knows I’m a Steelers fan.
I check in, the Steelers are behind 20-6.
Anxiety.
Gnashing of teeth.
