battinto_webresBattinto Batts Jr. has more than 20 years of experience in the media as a journalist, marketing and advertising executive, business owner and educator.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master of Arts degree in Media Management from Norfolk State University.

Battinto has worked as an editor or reporter at five newspapers, including the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Daily Press of Newport News (Va.), the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times and The Virginian-Pilot. He has interviewed celebrities and government officials and covered many events during his award-winning journalist career. He currently hosts a public affairs show on Blog Talk Radio, entitled The Batts Report.

As a marketing, advertising and public relations expert, Battinto has advised several clients on brand management and relationships with the media. His company, Batts Communications, was founded in 2006 as a public relations firm and has since expanded to become Batts Enterprises, which focuses on several aspects of the media. It specializes in social media and the Internet through the Batts Publishing Group.

Battinto is a professor of journalism at the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications at Hampton University and has also been an adjunct professor at Norfolk State University and served as an advisor at Old Dominion University.

Battinto is married to Denise Watson Batts, an award-winning journalist at The Virginian-Pilot.
